Just do the dang thing!

I hate being cold. Like can’t even stand it, buuuuuut my husband does. He’s kind of a beast when it comes to mental toughness. I’m really just…not, and I’m ok with it.
I bought him this ice bath for Christmas, thinking it was something I’d just watch him enjoy….which I have. I’ve taken immense pleasure in watching him shiver in the icy water. Ha!
Little did I know, after listening to him go on and on and on and on about all of the benefits of cold plunging, that I’d find myself frozen in a tub of water!
The benefits of cold plunging really are quite mind blowing. The dopamine effect, which i’ve witnessed my husband experience, and have now experienced first hand, are quite possibly reason enough to jump in!
Cold plunging has been associated with various health benefits, including:
- Improved Stress Response: Cold plunging may help improve your stress response by training you to overcome the stress of cold water submersion.
- Enhanced Circulation: Exposure to cold water may improve circulation and cardiovascular health.
- Reduced Inflammation: Cold water immersion has been shown to reduce inflammation and promote recovery after intense physical activity.
- Increased Metabolism: Cold plunging may boost metabolism, leading to potential weight loss benefits.
- Enhanced Athletic Recovery: Athletes often use cold plunging to speed up recovery and reduce muscle soreness after training or competition.
- Boosted Immune System: Some studies suggest that cold water immersion may have a positive impact on the immune system.
I never thought I’d find myself here amongst those who call themselves ‘cold plungers’ but here I am!! I am currently only plunging for 1 minute. The goal is to work up to 3 minutes. I’ll keep y’all updated on the benefits I experience as I experience them!
**Remember to always consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating cold plunging or any new health regimen into your routine, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.
